Celestial Parrotlets (Forpus Coelestis)
Celestial Parrotlets, or Pacific Parrotlets as they are sometimes known, are the smallest species of parrot bred in aviculture.
Measuring only 4.5" and weighing in at just over an ounce they are indeed tiny but what they lack in stature they more than make up for in personality and character, somewhat similar to their bigger cousins, the Amazons.
Originating from Ecuador and Peru they have been successfully bred in captivity worldwide. Their normal colour in the wild is green but as captive bred birds they now exist in many different colour mutations, from the well established blues through to various pastel and darker shades of green, blue and yellow, along with Pied patterning, Marbles and Cinnamon.
